Louisville Painter – Interior Drywall Painting Tips
Tips from Louisville Painters – When you decide to paint drywall it can turn out to be an easy or a very difficult job depending on the condition of the drywall and your preparation. You want to make sure that your drywall is clean and smooth. If there are any holes or damaged areas you should repair those first and let them dry properly.
Once your surface is smooth, make sure that it is clean and dry. Depending on the current color of the wall, the color you are painting the wall, and the type of paint that you are using, you may be required to put a coat of primer on before you paint the wall. Primer makes the paint cover better and keeps the previous color from bleeding through. Most of the time you should apply a coat of primer first.
You should probably start with the ceiling if you are painting it and then proceed to do your trim around the ceiling, doorways, and anything else needing to be trimmed in. After that you can roll the walls.
One more tip, is to get a good quality paint. Most of the cheaper paints will require twice as many coats even if you use primer. The higher quality paints cover better, look better, and last longer.
